What it does

EZ-Diagnostic scans your system and generates a report covering your installed EZSCAPE plugins, Final Cut Pro registration status, and common configuration issues. If something isn't working, run EZ-Diagnostic first. It gives you (and our support team) a clear picture of what's going on.

Final Cut Pro template repair

If you've ever seen this red screen in Final Cut Pro, your Motion template has a compatibility mismatch. This happens when a template was built with a newer version of Motion than your copy of Final Cut Pro supports. After a macOS or FCP update, templates that used to work fine can suddenly show this error.

Every Motion template has a version header inside its project file. When Final Cut Pro opens a template, it checks that header against its own version. If the template's version is higher than what FCP expects, it refuses to load it and shows the red warning screen instead.

EZ-Diagnostic fixes this by adjusting the version header to match your version of Final Cut Pro. It scans your Motion Templates folders for effects, generators, titles, and transitions, then lets you pick a target FCP version. Templates that are safe to adjust get patched. Templates that use features your FCP version doesn't support are skipped automatically.

Every file is backed up before any change is made. You can undo any repair with a single click, and the original file is restored exactly as it was.

This works for EZSCAPE templates, third-party template packs, and your own Motion templates.

Sharing a report

If you contact support, we may ask you to share your diagnostic report. The app lets you copy or upload the report directly. Uploading is optional and only sends the same text you can read on screen.
