Plugin Not Appearing

DaVinci Resolve:

  1. Close Resolve completely

  2. Run the installer again

  3. Open Resolve

  4. Look in: Effects Library > OpenFX > EZSCAPE > Ditheron

After Effects:

  1. Close After Effects completely

  2. Run the installer again

  3. Open After Effects

  4. Look in: Effect > EZSCAPE > Ditheron

Final Cut Pro:

  1. Close Final Cut Pro completely

  2. Run the macOS installer again

  3. Open Final Cut Pro

  4. Look in: Effects browser (Command-5) > Video > EZSCAPE > Ditheron

Always close your host application before running the installer.

Why does After Effects feel sluggish?

If controls respond slowly or previews stutter in After Effects 2026, try turning off compressed cache frames.

Windows: Open Edit > Preferences > Disk.

macOS: Open After Effects > Settings > Disk.

Under Disk Cache, uncheck Enable Compressed Frames (Lossless), then click OK. Leave Enable Disk Cache and Enable Preview from Disk Cache unchanged.

Compare responsiveness in the same composition. Results depend on the project and system. Uncompressed frames use more disk space without reducing preview quality. You can re-enable compression if it does not help.

Glow hides the dither

Lower Intensity and raise Threshold. Try Element Only or Base Only in Glow Feed, then choose a quieter Glow Blend. Check the result at delivery size.

Alpha does not composite as expected

Use GUI > Blob Track and choose a confirmed Background setting for the desired layer. Extract Active Alpha appears only for supported host and mode combinations. Use Wet and Dry when it does not appear.

A reactive result covers the subject

Lower Reaction Amount. Set Reactive To to Edges or Luma, then use Target and Target Falloff to contain the treatment. Reduce Texture Amount before changing the palette.

Scannar, Traceweaver, or Loscillator looks like noise

For Scannar, increase Line Spacing. For Traceweaver, lower Trace Count. For Loscillator, lower Density, then reduce Beam Width or Persistence if needed. Use Threshold to limit the treatment to useful detail.

A preset looks different in the browser

Source-dependent targeting can require a connected Resolve clip. Apply the preset to the actual shot before judging it.

Presets Not Saving

  • Make sure you've typed a name in the Preset Name field before clicking Save

  • Preset slots are limited to 300. If all slots are full, delete one to make room.

  • User presets are stored on your machine (%APPDATA%\Ditheron\presets\ on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Ditheron/presets/ on macOS). They persist across all projects but don't transfer between machines automatically.

Custom Palette Import Not Working

  • Hex codes should start with # (e.g. #FF0000)

  • Separate multiple colors with commas, spaces, or dashes

  • Coolors.co URLs should be the full URL (e.g. https://coolors.co/264653-2a9d8f-e9c46a)

  • Maximum 5 colors. Extra colors are ignored.

Image Looks Wrong After Applying

  • Check the Adjustments section — Brightness, Contrast, or Gamma may have been changed from defaults

  • Check if Invert is enabled

  • Make sure Strength isn't at 0% (which would show the original image)

  • Try resetting to a built-in preset to start from known-good values

Colors Look Different Than Expected

  • Enable Color must be turned on for palette mapping to work

  • Palette Mode must be set to match what you want (Preset vs Custom)

  • Color Depth at high values (16-32) with a limited palette can look washed out — try lower values (2-4) for bolder results

  • Saturation in the Adjustments section affects the input before palette mapping
