Workflows and recipes

These recipes are starting points. Use a short timeline section and view it at delivery size before saving a look.

Newspaper portrait

1. Select Order.

2. Choose a style from the Print family.

3. Set Strength until the face is still readable.

4. Turn on Enable Color only if the palette supports the cut.

5. Add a small amount of Film Grain texture before glow.

Lower Wet and raise Dry together when the treatment needs to mix back with the source and preserve more skin detail.

Edge traces on a moving subject

1. Select Traceweaver and Contour Web.

2. Set Reactive To to Edges.

3. Raise Trace Count only until the subject outline reads.

4. Keep Stroke Width narrow.

5. Use a small amount of Motion Rate.

Set Target to Edges when the background contributes too many lines.

Oscillating neon title

1. Select Loscillator and Neon Lines.

2. Keep Beam Width narrow and set a moderate Intensity.

3. Add Afterglow before adding Persistence.

4. Use Threshold to keep the beam on the title or bright subject.

5. Add glow with Element Only feed if the glow should follow the beam instead of the full image.

Scan field over a cutaway

1. Select Scannar and Scanner.

2. Start with wide Line Spacing and a thin Line Thickness.

3. Set Thickness From Luma to give highlights more weight.

4. Add a small Drift and set Line Angle to match the shot direction.

Use Wet and Dry together so the cutaway keeps useful production detail.

Active-element layer

1. Build the Ditheron result on a direct clip first.

2. Use Extract Active Alpha only where the installed build exposes it.

3. Choose GUI > Blob Track and the Background setting that matches the intended layer.

4. Render a short alpha-capable test over a contrasting background.
