Animation

Drift speed, light angle, sway, and flicker controls.

Both layers share the same animation controls. The gobo drifts slowly (like a distant tree swaying in the breeze), while the frame drifts slightly faster (like a closer object).

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
SpeedFloat0.0 - 1.00.2How fast the shadows drift across the frame. Set to 0 for a completely static shadow.
Light AngleFloat-180 - 18045Direction of the drift and the base shadow offset. Simulates the sun's position.
Sway AmountFloat0% - 100%20%Organic wobble applied to the gobo layer. Simulates branches swaying in a breeze.
Sway FrequencyFloat0.0 - 5.01.0How fast the sway oscillates. Lower = lazy drift, higher = active wind.
FlickerFloat0% - 100%0%Global intensity variation over time. Simulates shifting cloud cover or an unsteady light source.

Tips

  • Speed at 0.05 - 0.15 is subtle enough for most shots. You want the shadow to feel alive without drawing attention to itself.
  • Light Angle at 30 - 60 degrees simulates morning or afternoon sun. 90 degrees is directly from the side.
  • Sway only affects the gobo layer. Frame patterns (blinds, windows) don't sway because rigid objects don't move in the wind.
  • A small amount of Flicker (5 - 15%) adds realism. Leaves and branches overhead constantly shift the amount of light that passes through.
