Focus
Direct the viewer's eye by brightening lit gaps in the shadow.
The focus system brightens the lit gaps in a radial area, drawing the viewer's eye toward a specific part of the frame. The shadow pattern stays intact - Focus doesn't remove shadows, it makes the light between them more intense.
Think of it as a practical lighting trick: the subject stands in a pool of light that happens to fall between the shadow shapes.
| Parameter | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Focus X | Float0.0 - 1.0 | 0.5 | Horizontal position of the focus point. 0 = left edge, 1 = right edge. |
| Focus Y | Float0.0 - 1.0 | 0.5 | Vertical position of the focus point. 0 = top, 1 = bottom. |
| Size | Float0.0 - 1.0 | 0.3 | Radius of the lit area. |
| Strength | Float0% - 100% | 0% | How much the lit gaps brighten. 0 = off, 100% = fully lit at center. |
| Falloff | Float0% - 100% | 50% | Edge transition. 0% = hard circle, 100% = gradual fade. |
Tips
- Position Focus X/Y on your subject's face, then bring Strength up to 30 - 50%. The shadow still falls across them, but their features stay readable.
- Larger Size (0.5+) with gentle Strength (20 - 30%) creates a natural-looking pool of light. Smaller Size with high Strength feels more like a spotlight.
- Keyframe Focus X/Y to track a moving subject through the shadow pattern.
- Focus pairs well with Edge Falloff (in the Shadow section) for a complete vignette-and-highlight composition.
