Glow

Bloom, neon, and directional light leak effects.

The glow system adds bloom and light effects to your dithered image.

Controls

ParameterTypeDefaultDescription
Enable GlowToggleOffTurn on the glow.
Glow ModeChoiceSimple, Per-Color, Directional, DensitySimpleHow the glow is generated. Each mode has a very different look.
IntensityFloat0% - 200%50%Brightness of the glow. Subtle at low values. Cranked up, it bleeds across the image.
RadiusFloat1 - 100 px15 pxHow far the glow spreads from bright areas. Small radius = tight halo. Large radius = soft bloom.
ThresholdFloat0% - 100%30%How bright something needs to be before it glows. Lower = more glow everywhere. Higher = only the hottest spots.
TintColor PickerWhiteColor the glow. White is neutral. Try warm tones for a filmic bloom or neon colors for a cyberpunk look.
SaturationFloat0% - 200%100%Color intensity of the glow. 0% is a white/monochrome bloom regardless of source color.
SoftnessFloat0% - 100%50%How diffuse the glow falloff is. Low = hard halo edge. High = dreamy, soft.
AngleFloat0 - 360 degrees0Direction of the glow streak (Directional mode only).
OrganicFloat0% - 100%0%Bloom concentrates along contours instead of spreading everywhere. A more natural, less uniform glow.
VoltageFloat0% - 200%100%How much energy feeds into the glow. Higher values push more of the image into bloom.
NoiseFloat0% - 100%0%Adds grain to the glow. Gives it texture and breaks up smooth areas.

Glow Modes

Simple

Clean, natural bloom. Good for softening harsh dithered edges or adding a dreamy quality.

Per-Color

Each color in your palette gets its own glow. This creates a neon sign effect where different regions bloom in their own hue. Works best with:

  • Low color depth (2-4)
  • Vivid palettes (1980s Neon, Neon Punk preset)
  • Dark footage with isolated bright areas

Directional

Anamorphic light leaks and streaks across the frame. The Angle control sets the direction.

Density

The glow follows the dither itself. Where the pattern is dense, bright pools form. Where it's sparse, darkness. The dither feels like it's glowing from within.

Tips

  • Per-Color mode + 1980s Neon palette is an instant cyberpunk look
  • Directional at 0 degrees with a warm Tint creates a convincing anamorphic flare
  • Threshold is your most important control. Too low and the whole image blooms into mush, too high and nothing glows. Start around 30%
  • Voltage above 100% supercharges the glow. Paired with a high Threshold, only the hottest spots ignite
  • Organic at 30-50% makes the bloom hug contours. Subtle but changes the whole feel
  • Noise at 10-20% adds texture to the glow. Especially useful at high Radius values
  • Glow is keyframeable. Animate the Intensity on a beat drop for a pulsing bloom effect
